Adam Šimurda – Interview
How do you view the entire season of the European University Hockey League (EUHL) from an individual and collective point of view?
From a collective point of view, the season was a bit like a swing for us. In my opinion, we had a very good start to the season where we picked up important points. However, in the middle of the season, we had an unfortunate losing streak, because of which we were basically worried until the very end whether we would advance to the play-offs. In the end, we managed to do it and I think that ending the season in 4th place and being a comparable opponent to Gladiators Trenčín during certain phases of the series is definitely a very decent result for our team, which I am happy about. Personally, I rate the season relatively well. I am one of the oldest players in the team, so my role is also the leadership. I received a decent portion of ice-time from the coaches, so I always played out of passion and enjoyed hockey.
Did you expect to find yourself in the All-Star lineup of the European University Hockey League?
I certainly did not expect it and I was pleasantly surprised. There are several smart guys in the EUHL who play very good hockey, and I am even more pleased with this nomination. I take it as a motivation for the next season.
What are your ambitions for the team of Philosophers Nitra in the next season?
Our goal is to create an excellent team again, which is the cornerstone of any successful team. We will still see what kind of team we build up, but I dare say that the play-offs are our definite goal and everything is possible there.
