Andrej Julínek – Interview
Andrej Julínek, goalkeeper of the 2023/2024 champion (UMB Hockey Team) made it to the All-Star lineup. The All-Star Team of the European University Hockey League (EUHL) is formed in such a way that each coach of the university team can give one vote to a specific player.
How do you view the entire season of the European University Hockey League and the Sekeráš Trophy play-offs from an individual and collective point of view?
From an individual as well as from a team point of view, I see the season very positively. As for the regular season, it was great except for a few swings in December, from which we later recovered. From February, our play level rose, which resulted in the finals and winning the title. On the personal side, I can say that I am grateful for the award that I managed to get this season in the EUHL. These are things that make a person happy and you appreciate them.
Did you expect to find yourself in the All-Star lineup of the European University Hockey League?
Honestly, I have to say that I was surprised by the nomination to the All-Star lineup. In the back of my mind, I had a hope that it might work out, and in the end it did.
What are your ambitions for the UMB Hockey Team next season?
In the next season, our priority is to defend the title and to lift the cup over our heads again. As for personal goals, there are many of them and I don’t want to specify them in more detail yet. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the management of the UMB Hockey Team, who showed their trust in me this season and gave me the opportunity for space and development in the EUHL. I would also like to thank my teammates, whom I often tormented, but in the end we helped each other to win the title and win the EUHL goalkeeper of the year award. It would not be possible without them.
