Based on the EUHL Manual – Chapter 2, sections: 2.8., 2.9., 2.10. (EUHL PLAY-OFF 2024/2025) EUHA Board decided:
2.8. Playoff
The EUHA reserves the right to additionally modify the playoff system of the EUHL. Start of the EUHL Playoff season shall be determined by the EUHA. EUHL Teams shall be obliged to announce dates of home playoff games 10 days prior to the start of Playoff season. EUHA shall reserve the right to cancel or designate date and place of an EUHL playoff game.
2.9. Playoff Timetable
EUHL regular season 2024/2025 ends on 1th March 2025.
The EUHL Playoff shall take place on the following dates:
Quarter-finals: 3.3. 2025 – 15.3.2025 Best-of-5 series (3 games won)
Semi-finals: 17.3. 2025 – 28.3.2025 Best-of-5 series (3 games won)
Final: 30.3. 2025 – 11.4.2025 Best-of-5 series (3 games won)
2.10. Playing System for the Playoff Phase
- Quarter-finals shall be played in the following manner:
The third-ranked team of the regular-season ranking shall play the quarter-final series with the sixth-ranked team of the regular-season ranking.
The fourth-ranked team of the regular-season ranking shall play the quarter-final series with the fifth-ranked team of the regular-season ranking.
The first- and the second-ranked teams of the regular-season ranking shall be seeded to the semi-final series where they shall play against the teams that advance from the quarter-final series.
Semi-finals shall be played in the following manner:
The first-ranked team of the regular-season ranking shall play the semi-final series against the team which was ranked lower in the regular-season ranking, comparing the teams that have advanced from the quarter-final series.
The second-ranked team of the regular-season ranking shall play the semi-final series against the team which was ranked higher in the regular-season ranking, comparing the teams that have advanced from the quarter-final series.
3.The semi-final series winners will meet in the play-off finals for the Sekeráš Trophy.
4.Quarter-finals, Semi-finals and Finals shall be played in a best-of-five series; first two games are organized by the higher-ranked team of the regular season, if not agreed otherwise. Subsequently, the series shall move to lower-ranked team, who shall organize the next two games, provided the series does not end with the third game. Eventual fifth game shall be organized by the higher-ranked team of the regular season. In exceptional cases (e.g., if the home team does not have means to organize a game), the EUHA reserves the right to set a date and place of a game that shall be respected by all involved parties. If an involved party does not participate in a game set by the EUHA, the game shall end in a walkover awarded to the participating team.
EUHA reserves the right to set a date and place of a game also in the case if involved parties do not reach an agreement. Costs of such game are covered by the home team, unless EUHA decides otherwise.
5.If the score is tied after the regulation time of any playoff game, the 20-minute overtime periods shall be played until a goal is scored. Each team shall play with one goalkeeper and three skaters. Penalty-shot shootout is not permitted.
Ice shall be resurfaced before each overtime period.
It shall be the responsibility of the home team that any playoff game can finish properly while using the given system of the 20-minute overtime periods. Otherwise, the game shall end in a walkover (w.o.) awarded to the visiting team.
