EUHL expands to Hungary
The University Hockey project in Europe EUHL (European University Hockey League) is expanding to another country. The competition, in which teams from Slovakia, Czech Republic, Austria and Poland are participating will also include a team from Budapest. One of the major goals of the EUHL founders, to expand into more countries, is once again being more fulfilled.
Members of EUHA (European University Hockey Association), which is the governing body of the competition, met with the representatives of the Hungarian Hockey Union and the University Sports Association in Hungary. After negotiations, the verdict is clear – in the upcoming season, a team from Hungary will be fighting for the Sekeráš Trophy.
„In the next EUHL season, a university team will be involved in the competition, which is being created within the HOKIKLUB club in Budapest. Communication with representatives of this team began about a half a year ago, and I must say they have really amazing facilities prepared for the team. There are excellent conditions for the sports infrastructure needed for the development of an athlete, which is located directly within the campus,“ Jaroslav Straka, EUHA President, informed.
