A former EUHL player appeared in the World Championship
Italian Marco Sanna, who used to play in the European University Hockey League in the past, represented his country in the current World Championship.
Marco Sanna is 24 years old Italian winger who currently plays for Cortina in the international Alps Hockey League. He appeared in 48 games this season and he collected 28 points for 15 goals and 13 assists. He was rewarded for his performances by an invitation to the Italian national team with which he participated in the World Championship in Finland. The player from Pieve di Cadore played in all matches of his team, and he always started in the first two lines. He finished the Championship without any goal or assist.
The interesting fact is that he has been playing in the Apennine Peninsula for his whole career except for the season 2016/2017 when he appeared in the EUHL. He attended five games for Gladiators Trencin there without reaching any point in the statistics.
Marco Sanna is a good example for others that players in the EUHL can combine study with ice hockey and they can continue playing this sport even after graduation and it can lead for example up to the World Championship.
Congratulations Marco and we wish you good luck in your career!
