2.6. Elimination part – play-off
1.After completion of the EUHL Regular Season the teams will be entered into a table based on points earned that will be used to determine the first six teams advancing into the EUHL Playoff (in case of a tie the resolution shall follow criteria set out in the Manual), unless the EUHA determines otherwise.
2.The EUHA reserves the right to additionally modify the playoff system for the EUHL Season via an amendment to this Manual. The EUHA Board Committee shall determine the starting date of the regular EUHL season and notify individual teams of this date without any undue delay. The teams shall be obliged to respect the Board´s decision.
Completion of the EUHL Regular Season 2022/2023 on March 2, 2023.
Timetable for the 2022/2023 EUHL playoffs
The play-off of the current EUHL will take place on the following dates:
- Quarterfinals 6.3.2023 – 13.3. 2023 / two winning matches (best of 3) /
- Semi-final 15.3.2023 – 25.3. 2023 / three winning matches (best of 5) /
- Final 27.3. 2023 – 7.4. 2023 / three winning matches (best of 5) /
Playoff system of the EUHL 2022/2023
The quarterfinals of the EUHL 2022/2023 will take place with the following system:
The first and second teams after the regular part of the EUHL 2022/2023 will be nominated for the semi-final matches in which they will meet the winners of the quarterfinals.The third-place team after the regular season will play a quarterfinal against the sixth-place team after the regular season.The fourth-place team after the regular season will play a quarterfinal against the fifth-place team after the regular season.
The semi-finals of the EUHL 2022/2023 will take place with the following system.
The first team after the regular season will play a match against the winner of the quarter-final match, which was placed last after the regular season of the EUHL 2022/2023.The second team after the regular season will play a semi-final match with the winner of the second advancing team from the quarter finals.
The winners of the semi-final matches will meet in the final of the EUHL 2022/2023 playoff for the Sekeráš Trophy.
The quarterfinals are played for two winning games, with the first two matches being organized by the better-placed participant after the regular season, unless otherwise agreed. Subsequently, after that, the series will move to the worse placed participant, who will organize a final game.The finals and semi-finals are played for the winner of three matches, with the first two matches being organized by the better-placed participant after the regular season, unless otherwise agreed. Subsequently, the series will move to the worse placed participant, who will organize the next two matches, provided that if the series does not end with the third or fourth match of the series, the decisive fifth final match will be organized again, after the regular part, by the better placed participant.
EUHA reserves the right in exceptional cases (e.g., if the home team does not have the opportunity to organize a game), so the association can intervene in organizational matters regarding the time, place and determine the playing date, which the participating parties must respect. If one of the participating parties does not participate in the match determined by the EUHA, the non-participating party will automatically be disqualified.
EUHA reserves the right to determine the day and the place of the game in case the participating parties do not agree. The cost of this game is covered by the home team, unless the EUHA has decided otherwise. The date and place are mandatory for the participants (see chapter 2, point 2.4, paragraph 1 of the EUHL Manual)
Overtime in the EUHL Playoff 2022/2023
In case, if the play-off match is not decided in regular time, there will be a 20-minute overtime played by the 3-on-3 system, which lasts until the “golden goal” is scored, without the possibility of penalty shooting.The home team in the case of overtime of any EUHL play-off matches is responsible for ensuring that the match can be completed properly under the designated overtime system. Otherwise, the contumacy match will be to the detriment to the home team. The ice service will always be done before the next overtime
