EUHL Strengthens International Cooperation and Opens Doors to New Clubs

GYŐR, Hungary, 15 October 2026 – Representatives of the European University Hockey League (EUHL), the European University Hockey Association (EUHA), hockey clubs and partner organisations met in Győr, Hungary, for a conference focused on the league’s continued development. The main objectives were to review preparations for the 2026/2027 season, coordinate upcoming tournaments and identify further steps to advance university hockey across Europe.

Discussions covered the league’s sporting operations, communication between clubs, joint promotion and the development of new international partnerships. The presence of representatives from clubs interested in joining EUHL was a notable feature of the meeting, providing an opportunity to introduce the league’s structure, planned tournaments and potential areas of cooperation.

Interest from prospective clubs is an encouraging sign for the continued expansion of EUHL’s international network. Any new participation will remain subject to further discussions and formal confirmation.

Tournament Calendar for the 2026/2027 Season

Coordinating the season’s tournament calendar was one of the conference’s main priorities. Club representatives discussed organisational requirements, scheduling and cooperation between tournament hosts.

Three major events are planned:

  • DEAC JG Tournament – Debrecen, Hungary, 9–11 November 2026. The tournament will be organised by DEAC JG.

  • Winter Cup – Nowy Targ, Poland, December 2026. The event is being organised by the Polish organisation PUHA. The exact dates will be announced in due course.

  • Sekeras Trophy – February 2027. The concluding tournament in the Sekeras Trophy series is planned for February 2027. EUHA will organise the event and confirm the exact dates and venue in due course.

A coordinated calendar is central to the league’s operations. Joint planning allows clubs to prepare their teams more effectively, streamline logistics and provide high-quality playing conditions for all participants.

A Coordinated Approach to League and Club Promotion

The development of social media marketing guidelines was another key topic. The aim is to align communication practices across EUHL and its participating clubs, creating a professional and recognisable identity for the league.

The guidelines will establish basic standards for promoting tournaments, sharing results, showcasing teams and engaging with fans and partners. A consistent approach will also help clubs use social media more effectively and increase the visibility of individual events.

Through coordinated communication, EUHL aims to strengthen its brand, raise awareness of university hockey and give its activities greater exposure both domestically and internationally.

Talks on Cooperation with the Hungarian Ice Hockey Federation

The programme also included discussions on opportunities to develop cooperation between EUHA and the Hungarian Ice Hockey Federation (Magyar Jégkorong Szövetség).

EUHA representatives discussed the subject with Szigeti Ágnes, manager of the Andersen League. The talks focused on building closer ties, improving communication and identifying new opportunities for cooperation within hockey.

Developing relationships with national hockey organisations is an important step towards strengthening university hockey and expanding opportunities for clubs and players. EUHA intends to continue these discussions and explore joint projects that can contribute to the sport’s development.

Devin Panzeca Strengthens EUHA’s International Team

One of the conference’s key outcomes was an agreement for Devin Panzeca to join EUHA as International Advisor for Relations with Overseas Partners and Clubs.

His role will involve developing international communication, establishing contacts with clubs and sports organisations beyond EUHL’s existing network, and identifying further opportunities for cooperation.

His priorities will include building relationships with international partners, introducing prospective teams to opportunities within EUHL and supporting the league’s international relations. His work will help create new opportunities for the league and advance its long-term international ambitions.

The addition of an international advisor is a further step in EUHA’s efforts to strengthen its organisational capacity and systematically develop partnerships with clubs and organisations across different countries.
