Boris Sádecký Memorial: A Legacy That Lives in Our Hearts

Boris left behind so much more than goals, victories and his iconic number 24. He left behind lasting memories, genuine friendships, smiles and a deep mark in the hearts of everyone who knew him, met him or supported him. These are the values that will remain with us forever. Sport has the power to help, to bring people together and to create a legacy that lives on long after the final game has ended.

Boris Sádecký’s Good Heart

This memorial is not just about hockey. Above all, it is about people, solidarity and the willingness to help when help is needed most. EUHL Vice President František Sádecký, Boris’s father, together with his family, founded the non-profit organization Boris Sádecký’s Good Heart, whose mission is to help others and save lives.

“A good heart is one that wants to help. To help even when it can no longer help itself. Boris’s heart is like that, and it always will be. Yours can be too.”

Meaningful Support and a Powerful Moment

The memorial held great significance not only for everyone who was close to Boris, but also for the entire hockey community. The event was personally supported by representatives of the European University Hockey League (EUHL):

Sunday in Trenčín brought not only great hockey, but also an exceptionally important moment. The non-profit organization Boris Sádecký’s Good Heart officially presented the second “Boris Bench”. This special bench is equipped with an automated external defibrillator (AED), which can play a crucial role in saving a person’s life in a critical situation. It is a symbolic yet very tangible legacy – Boris’s story continues to help save lives even today.

The message that accompanied us throughout all three days was clear:

So that hearts never stop beating.

We would like to thank everyone who attended, supported the memorial and helped create an event that truly makes a difference. Because Boris’s legacy lives on.
